QUESTION: I have already installed a course on my Windows computer, but every time I put in the CD in the drive, the program wants to re-install. Why?
ANSWER: We are not sure what causes this problem on some Windows computers. It happens very rarely, and appears to be related to virus protection programs. (Note: If you run into this problem, and are willing to spend a few minutes on the phone with us, please call us at 1-800-366-4614 to help us identify the source of the problem).
SOLUTION: If your computer exhibits the above problem, you may want to disable the "Auto-start" feature of your CD-ROM drive. When you do this, the courses no longer start automatically when you insert their CD-ROMs in the drive. You would then have to start them manually using the Start Button. To disable the "Auto-start" feature perform the following:
1. Click on the "Start" button on your desktop (usually on the lower left hand corner of the desktop.
2. Scroll up to "Settings" on the start menu, and click on "Control Panel". 3. Double click on the "System" icon. 4. Click on the "Device Manager" tab. 5.
Locate the listing for your CD-ROM drive. If necessary, expand its listing by clicking on the '+' sign next to it. A line should appear under the CD-ROM listing containing the make of your CD-ROM drive (e.g. "Sony CD-ROM").
6. Double click on the icon containing the make of you CD-ROM drive. 7. Click on the "Settings" tab. 8. De-select the "auto insert notification" check box. 9.
From now on, start Teknimedia's programs by using the "Start" button and choosing the appropriate Teknimedia course under the "Programs" menu.
Note: The above procedure will disable the
"Auto-start" feature for all of your CD-ROM titles. You may want to re-enable this feature once you are done taking Teknimedia's courses.
